Curriculum
The curriculum of GIS is as per the requirement of 21st century and with reference to the guidelines of CBSE. The curriculum practices in our school are learner centric. Our teachers ensure an atmosphere for students to feel free to ask questions. They promote active learning among students with a focus on reflections, connecting with the world around them, creating and constructing knowledge. The role of a teacher is that of a facilitator who would encourage collaborative learning and development of multiple skills through the generous use of resources via diverse approaches for transacting the curriculum. Arts is also integrated in teaching. Teachers are instructed to attend to the individual difference of students by diagnosing and modifying their curriculum planning.
Infrastructure
GIS is situated in Indira Nagar in ITBP road, Dehradun. The school is in the midst of residential hub and with greenery all over the place. The campus itself shows the nature and love towards the environment with lush green tress, garden all around, plants and flowers of all variety. The school is built as per the CBSE guidelines with spacious classrooms, restrooms, labs, playground, etc.
Digital Enhanced Learning
The classrooms and labs are equipped with digital boards with series of expert videos on subject topics are being included in their curriculum through these devices. Each digi board is connected to the main server which provides students with an enhanced learning experience.
Facilities
Auditorium The school’s auditorium with a capacity of 300 students gives enough access for meetings, school events, programs etc.
CCTV CCTV in all classrooms, laboratories, corridors and around the school premises are installed to keep our campus safe and secure for our kids. Display monitors are monitored in equal intervals throughout the day. Bus fleet are also installed with GPS to track the route and safety.
Labs GIS has computer labs accessible to students from Classes IV to XII with advanced hardware and software to cater to the students’ requirements. We have 20 to 25 systems. The internet is available at these labs and is used by students when required under the close supervision and guidance of their teachers. The school is well equipped with Smart Boards and LCD projectors from Class I to XII, to extend parts of the laboratory set up into the classrooms and make teaching and learning an effective process. GIS also has Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Labs to cater the needs of Middle and Senior wing. The labs are well lit and fitted with all equipments which are required to carry on the experiments and investigations.
Library A School Library plays an integral role in teaching and learning and promotes wide reading, and motivates readers and learners for life. Both the libraries are well lit and have multifunctional space, where the students come and enjoy reading. The school library is enriched with wide variety of resources which includes books, periodicals, reference books, textbooks and Audio and Visual Cds to support the teaching and learning process.
Performing Arts There can be nothing better than Performing Arts to help young pupils to distress and express their feelings in a productive and creative manner. The school has a spacious room to teach various forms Dance & Music (both vocal & instrumental). Regular events are held to showcase the skills of our students in school and outside school for competitions and fun activities.
Sports It is rightly said that ‘A healthy mind resides in a healthy body’ and thus, our school places great emphasis on sports and physical fitness Students are encouraged and trained to participate and excel in competitions at every level, Intra-school, Inter School, Zonal and National events.
