Curriculum
THE SCHOOL PROGRAM Doon International School believes in the philosophy of all round development of the children by training all faculties of the mind and body through round the clock engagement. Towards this end the school has designed an extensive academic program to challenge the children to reach their optimum potential. The school emphasises developing the overall personality and character of the children through an inclusive program that encourages them to participate in a wide range of co –curricular activities, games and sports.
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING The school recognizes that the existing rote learning and chalk and talk methodology needs urgent upgradation in the present day scenario. Hence the school focuses on the concept of experiential learning that engages students in critical thinking, problem solving and decision making in contexts that are personally relevant to them. It inculcates all of these through an interdisciplinary program that is hands on and application skills oriented. This approach to learning involves action, reflection, conceptualisation and reapplication.
EDUCATIONAL TRIPS AND EXCURSIONS The school considers educational tours, treks and outings as integral to the child’s education at school. It is deemed desirable that all children participate in such excursions and tours in order to inculcate in them qualities such as independence, confidence, leadership skills and sensitivity towards the environment, geographical and cultural diversity and awareness of the rich cultural and regional heritage that India offers. RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES The Riverside campus, an international school has well-appointed hostel buildings with independent spaces for each student. There are separate hostels for housing primary school and senior school boys. The girls are housed in a separate hostel located on another side of the campus. The spacious school boarding houses have been designed to provide a neat, safe and comfortable living environment for the children.
SCHOOL MEALS The school dining hall serves wholesome and delicious vegetarian and non vegetarian meals planned by a qualified nutritionist. The meal plan is designed keeping in mind growing children and their nutritional requirements. Since the school children hail from different parts of the country and the world, the school serves Indian, Continental, Chinese and Thai cuisines. Teachers and children dine together in the dining hall in a semi formal setting.
